UDG was founded in the Netherlands in 1999 by Michael Schmeitz. His journey in DJ culture began in 1988 with a DJ record shop, where he saw first-hand the practical challenges DJs faced when travelling with vinyl.
As international gigs became more common, heavy plywood flight cases proved inconvenient for air travel, and lost checked luggage could leave DJs arriving at venues without their music. This led to the creation of the first UDG SoftBag: a lighter, practical solution that allowed DJs to carry their records safely on board.
From that moment on, UDG has focused on creating smart, durable, and stylish gear designed to move with DJ culture. From vinyl and CDs to digital and streaming setups, UDG continues to evolve alongside DJs worldwide.
